Welcome to Derek’s Blog 2.0!

I have decided to switch hosting providers and start my blog fresh. I hope you like the WordPress theme I choose. Yes, I have gone back to WordPress from MediaWiki. Although I liked the idea of using a wiki as a blog hosting platform, it just didn’t work out as well as I had hoped. With the updates over time, the custom modifications I made to the MediaWiki theme did not propagate well. It was just hard to maintain over time, as MediaWiki was not designed to be a CMS. Thus, I have switched back to WordPress which I have used in the past.

One of the things I did not like about WordPress was its susceptibility to being hacked. It is a pretty large target since like 28% of the worlds websites run it last time I checked. Hopefully I will keep it more up to date this time. A lot has changed in the past few years, and there are now WordPress plugins just for security which were not there before.
